The former New York Giants center appears as a ghostly cyborg invisible to everyone but Carl. He helps convince Carl to turn his life around but then tells Carl to kill actress Linda Hamilton. Oates turns out to be a poorly built cyborg apparently serving the robots from the future of the Terminator films. At the end of the episode, we flash back to Oates convincing Master Shake to shoot Carl with a BB gun, which is the reason why Carl saw Oates in the first place.
